This is a beetle larva, very likely Melyridae-Malachiinae, of which Dicranolaius is a common member. It is a close match to Fig. 34i in Lawrence & Slipinski (2013) 'Australian beetles, Volume 1. Morphology, classification and keys' (CSIRO).

Definitely an Omorgus, but I don't know which species (there are 57 in Australia). Could be O. australasiae or O. euclensis, or another species.
