These are now Calomela moorei by name change.
The type species of this beetle was collected in Western Australia. The eastern population is a different species although they look the same. This was determoned by Chu and Reid (2019) ALA has not updated. Peter Chen (Brisbane Insects) has not updated. Simon Grove has updated, He is curator at TMAG (Tasmania)

@martinl I know your comment above relates to to the name change from Calomela maculicollis to Calomela moorei, but would you mind double-checking these photos please🤞😊

Based on your previous comments in other sightings (details below) I think these are Callidemum sp.? Hoping you see this message and can confirm as I’ve now compiled a total of 7 Sightings under the Callidemum sp. in the Field Guide. Callidemum limbatum is the closest I can find that matches all characteristics with the exception that it has a spot on the central pronotum (whereas all these sightings have a diamond)😊

***1st related Sighting 4537171 (which was under Aporocera sp.)
“pronotum is flat and wide. Pronotal dots are trimaculate. Body is short. Striae are distinct. Head is more forward than cryptocephalinidae.”

***2nd related Sighting 4541264 (which was under Calomela sp.)
“This is not Calomela. Calomela has confused elytral puncturation but this beetle has them in ten straight rows. It is probably Callidemum.”

***3rd related Sighting 4555272 (which was under Calomela sp.)
“This looks like Calomela moorei but has orange head and pronotum and straight lined serial puncturation, whereas Calomela has confused, random puncturation. This is closest to Callidemum sp.”

I know the photo quality isn’t as good in this sighting as the previous re elytral punctuations, but the images look identical for everything else.

Also, here is a link to iNaturalist where a Calomela is Research Grade based on two suggested ID’s (& a 3rd comment that this isn’t Calomela and needs looking further investigation): https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/137792983

Thank you - there is so much to know/learn about IDing. Grateful for your time and sharing your expertise

@LisaH happy to help, any knowledge I impart was learned from someone else. That’s what’s fabulous about ID’ing, no one person gets it right 100% of the time & we are all constantly learning from one another💚
